    Here is another experimental Italian-style electric locomotive project in scale 1:45.

    The hollow body shell of the FS E.464 could fit may be on the powered frame of the MTH BR185, not tried yet.

    On the rear roof could be mounted a fine-scale single-arm pantograph by Sommefeldt (here is displayed a coarse scale pantograph by Merkur).

    Two units could be merged as twin-engines parked on the side track in front of a shed waiting for maintenance.

    A single unit could be the leading or trailing part of a long XMPR push-pull train set consisting of UIC-X coaches or of double-deck coaches.

    I like very much the faded mate painting finish of your MAV M61 class.

    I am sure your have the skills to convert a DR V200 Sergeij/Taigadrum from Luboš Domalíp into a nice MAV M62.

    Myself I prefer the Gigant MAV M63 as you can identify on this video.



  • Hi everybody and especially the passenger train modellers of the middle-eastern Pan-European corridors in scale 1:45.

    Here I will introduce through CAD drawings, 0 scale images and prototype photos few of my international passenger coach project incl. baggage cars, couchettes and restaurants with high roof once manufactured in East-Germany and re-built elsewhere initially as category OSShD-B and later as UIC-Y. They have been used or still are in operation on the middle-eastern Pan-European corridors and especially on Eastern Balkan routes by various state railways, such as PKP/WARS, CD and ZSSK (former CSD), MAV, CFR, BDZ and OSE-CH, for which must be printed decals and painting scheme chosen depending on the era (epoque). Some of them have been modernized while others in bad condition have been scrapped. My focus is primarily on the passenger train sets of the 1990ies when the Trans-Balkan-Express was frequently used by young Interrailers, as you may have read one of my published articles in the Continental Modeller magazine by PECO. The aim would be to create multiple variations of that kind of passenger coaches for the 0-scale community as one can see in the Piko and Tillig (formerly also Sachsenmodelle, Schicht and Zeuke) catalogs for H0 and TT scale. The segmented structure of each coach model as an assembly kit consists of the bodyshell, the interior and the underframe. The overall length may vary slightly between car types, which is approx. 550mm. The stretched restaurant cars carry more roof details due to additional kitchen exhausts. The overall length of a complete express train set would require several meters of a boarding platform at a massive passenger station on a long modular layout.

    Prior assembly all 3D printed parts need primer coating, additionally the assembled bodyshell needs finish painting, lettering and minor weathering. The bodyshell consitst of a roof with variable ventilation and further details, left and right body sides with integrated heating inside, front and rear body ends with integrated facial doors and side doors, where long parts are split to easier fit in a 3D printer. The sides may be corrugated of some coaches for the broad gauge rail network on the eastern routes. The amount and the arrangement of the compartment windows, conductor windows, toilet windows and door windows depend on the coach type, whether 1st class (Am), 2nd class (Bm), mixed class (ABm), 2nd class with baggage compartment (BDm), couchettes (Bcm), sleeping car (WLABm), buffet car (BRm), restaurant car (WRm) or mail car (DDm).

    The glazing of the window frames could be of thin transparent acrylic sheets, like they have been used in the past for overhead projector slides. The roof is mounted with tiny screws on top of the body while the window frames have to be glued either from inside or outside depending on the coach generation, because old generation coaches had excessing window frames until they changed later according to UIC regulations.

    The modular interior consists usually of toilets/lavatories and a sequence of seats with compartment doors and luggage shelves. Alternatively the interior may contain stacked beds or dining tables depending on the exceptional car type used on long distance night trains. To the underframe are mounted the bogies with metal wheelsets, the whole interior, several hanging boxes and boilers, the bumpers and hooks or NEM-couplers as 3rd party supply components.

    For night train illumination a LED ribbon could be installed above the compartments and under the roof where the wires are channelled through the toilets/lavatories to receive power from the metal wheelsets. I hope this project offers you sufficient inspiration to design and build in higher precision your preferred passenger coaches of whatever car type and to decorate them in whichever painting schemes.



  • Hi everybody (or should I salut you with "bonjour!"?)

    This time you see a preliminary prototype of a French SNCF FRET long flatcar, which can converted to one of the following freight car types, either Rils or Res or Sgs or something similar. Its overall length is appox. 45 cm for 0 scale (1:45). On the bottom side can be a solid single beam or twin beams with holes. The flat loading surface is covered with real wood. The vertical bars can be rotated (counter-)clockwise and the side covers can be removable or in open/closed position. A raw undecorated version may be probably on display at one of the forthcoming expositions, since this project is still in progress. This model could be interesting also for BeNeLux model railroaders (NS, SNCB, CFL).

    These projects are still in progress and not yet finalized. Therefore some minor improvements are to be done.
