There's a stack of fourteen boards in my garage. Not worth photographing. Andrew Burnham photographed my terminus for Continental Modeller. I'll find them to post here. Bill

Br 56.2-8

Hi, There are other manufacturers of Spur Null wheels in Great Britain. I have sent an e-mail to JPL Models. I have asked them if they make the correct bogie wheel. Sorry they do not have a web site. Bill

Duncan Models

Hi, There are other manufacturers of figures and other items. You could look at Dave Sutton's website: www.sanddmodels.co.uk Also Omen Miniatures: www.omen-miniatures.com Stefan will be publicising Guildex soon. Andy Duncan and Omen Miniatures will be at the exhibition; S&D models will be represented by Invertrain. A word of warning. Some of Andy Duncan's animals are over scale. For example his chickens and rabbits are closer to Gauge One (1:32). Bill

Frage zu englischen Tiefladewagen

I forgot about decals (we call them transfers). On the gauge0guild website, look for "Fox Transfers", then go to the "7mm/O Heritage Era Descriptive Price List". Fox sell transfers and a limited number of brass plates. A brief description of British Epochs: BR = Epoch 3 - 1948 - about 1968 (end of steam) GWR / LMS / LNER / SR = Epoch 2 - 1923 - 1947 Pre-grouping = South Eastern & Chatham etc = Epoch 1 - until 1922 Pullman, Private Owner etc could cross Epochs and I have not attempted to analyse ...

Frage zu englischen Tiefladewagen

Brass kits from Connoisseur Models are easy to build. I would recommend them as a first attempt at building a brass kit of an English prototype. For an almost complete list of British outline kits, type "gauge0guild" into your search engine, then go to "Traders". You will need wheels and I recommend you consider Slaters' products. You will also need paint and I recommend Phoenix, but there could be a problem as Royal Mail refuse to accept paint. You may have to travel to Guildex in September to ...

Noch ne Frage .... Welchen Lötzinn und welches Flussmittel?

In England, solders are quoted in degrees Celsius. So I use "70" for whitemetal, but it doesn't work with brass, which must be tinned with "188" first. I normally use "188" for brass and nickel silver: it is a dry solder forming a small meniscus. So it's good for joining two pieces of metal but not good for filling gaps. "145" is a wet solder, with a large meniscus, good for filling gaps but doesn't necessarily make a neat joint. I don't like liquid flux and usually use a paste flux called Power...

Buseck 2013

Well, there were at least five Britishers at Buseck on Saturday. It was a pleasure to meet Stefan, to give Michael Schnellenkamp a large wad of Euros, and to mingle with fellow Spur Null modellers. I purchased some very useful items for my Höchstädt layout. I will return in 2014. Bill

Armin, My apologies for writing in English on this forum, but do you know the withdrawal dates of the prototype wagons? I enjoy building kits, but my German modelling is Epoche 111b, about 1960. I don't have a problem translating from German; many thanks, Bill

Bahnbetriebswerk for BR64 - new number

John, My understanding of the class BR 64 is that we are fairly restricted in the numbers we can use. In fact, I don't think that 64 024 is correct for the Lenz model. My reasoning is that both Lenz models have long cab ventilators and are of 12400 mm long prototypes. The change in the cab ventilator happened somewhere between 64 234 and 64 243 (given the break in production, maybe immediately after 64 234, but I don't have photographic proof). The change in length happened after 64 367, so I su...

Greetings from London, England

Hello, my name is Bill Bishop and I have modelled in Spur Null for about 40 years. I have a British exhibition layout called Beaulieu set in Hampshire in Epoch 3. The village of Beaulieu exists, but the layout is imaginary and the nearest station is Beaulieu Road (which means the real station is located on the road into Beaulieu and is actually several kilometers from the village). I also have an interest in the railways of Germany. So recently I have started a German layout set in Franken and I...
